Mountains Country House in Hildenborough, Kent is a magnificent grade II listed mansion set in beautiful grounds. This stunning venue is the perfect setting for any type of event or celebration in an exclusive, country location.Originally a private house, many genuine Victorian features remain with Mountains Country House such as the oak panelling. These original features are particularly prevalent in the reception area and Victorian Hall.The Clark Somers room and the beautifully decorated conservatory are light and airy spaces which enjoy views over the spacious grounds.At the end of the terrace lies the permanent, luxury marquee. A versatile space, it is decorated to a high specification and is complete with a bar and dance floor. Fully lined and suitable for all weathers it is a stunning, flexible space.At Mountains Country House it is possible to be married in the open air under the oak-framed gazebo with up to 120 guests in attendance. The gazebo can be decorated to personal requirements resulting in a stunning backdrop to a special wedding ceremony. In less clement weather the ceremony can be conducted inside the Victorian houseThe stylish marquee is the most flexible of spaces and can accommodate 200 guests for a sit down wedding breakfast or dinner or 250 guests for an evening reception or party.  It can be partitioned thus making the space versatile and as intimate as required.Mountains truly has something special to offer that will suit all tastes and budgets. Venue FAQ's

What time does the bar and music stop?

The bar will close and music at the end of the night will finish at 11:30pm, all guests to depart by 12am.

Can we have a live band?

Unfortunately we do not permit full live bands (full drum kits, electric guitars etc) inside the marquee due to the sound restrictions that we have from the local council. We do however allow singers, acoustic duos, sax players and guitarists etc.

What are some local taxi numbers?

Our staff behind the bar will have a list of local taxi companies you can call to ensure you can get home at the end of the night.

What are the maximum ceremony capacity numbers?

At Mountains Country House we have 3 licenced ceremony areas, a breath-taking outside option and 2 beautiful indoor options, ensuring the chance of bad weather will not affect your big day:

  • Outside Gazebo: Maximum Capacity of 120 guests
  • Hall: Maximum Capacity of 120 guests
  • Clark Somers Room: Maximum Capacity of 80 guests

Can we bring our own food and drink to the venue?

We do not permit guests to bring their own food and drink to the venue for health and safety reasons. If there are any special dietary requirements these can be discussed with our Events Team.

Do you allow fireworks on the venue grounds?

We do not permit the use of fireworks or Chinese/ sky lanterns also due to health and safety reasons.

Do you have a microphone on site?

We do supply a microphone at the venue for use during speeches and announcements.

Can we use an outside DJ?

Mountains will supply your event with one of our in house DJs. All details regarding music and timings can be discussed with our Events Team and relayed to the DJ allocated to your event.

Where is the nearest accommodation?

We do not have a Bridal Suite or offer accommodation at Mountains Country House. Please visit the accomodation page of our website here or contact our Events staff for further details of local accommodation in the area: email / 01732 832222

Can we decorate the venue ourselves?

The venue can be decorated both by your friends or family or any hired decorator, please inform your Event Manager and we can discuss timings. If we have an event the day before then you will not be able to gain access until on the day of your event. The Events Team are also happy to set out any small decorations i.e. candles, lanterns, photo frames etc for you.

Can we have candles in the venue?

We do allow candles within the venue, however we do ask for health and safety reasons, that all candles are within a holder taller than the height of the flame.
We also allow the use of Candelabra centre pieces, we also ask that during the use of these that there is a mirrored plate wider than the width of the candles- to ensure no wax is dripped onto the table linen. The spillage of wax onto the linen may incur additional cleaning charges.

Is the use of confetti permitted?

We do allow the use of flower petals and bio-degradable confetti, the use of ‘party poppers’, plastic/coated confetti is not permitted outside or within the venue.

Does the venue have disabled access?

The marquee is easily accessible for disabled guests, there is a large disabled toilet available for all disabled guests within the house.

Do you supply high chairs?

We have 6 high chairs on site for children, we do not have booster seats available- we will happily set these out if brought to the venue.
