Are you looking for a venue to hire in Wye? The Kings Head is available for group bookings and they also welcome customers who are looking for a venue to visit, drink/dine in or stay at in Wye.
The beautiful and historic village of Wye, nestled at the foot of the Kent Downs is definitely the place to be right now. According to the Sunday Times’ annual list of the best places to live in the UK, Wye ranked at number three, and we can certainly see why! The newest addition to Wye’s rich and varied culinary offer has seen one of its most prominent landmarks – The Kings Head – brought back to life after decades of decline. With new owners, a brand new team front of house and in the Kitchen, the newly transformed Kings Head is bringing a little slice of modern style and flavour to this grand old building.
The extensive renovations have seen the old bar and restaurant areas united for the first time, combining comfortable coffee shop style lounging with traditional restaurant dining. The guest rooms have also been given the “KH” treatment, with a bright and airy feel, bringing together classic shaker panelling, antique furniture, and citrus bright soft furnishings.
Drawing on phrases such as ‘locally sourced and seasonal’, ‘freshly baked’ & ‘supporting the local community’, the philosophy at The Kings Head is definitely about quality, flavour, and sustainability. Fresh bread is supplied by the artisan bakers at Wye Bakery, and the sausages are handmade especially by Wakelin’s Butchers, both just a few steps away. The Wooden Spoon Preserving company, Stour Valley Game, and Cheese makers of Canterbury add to the excellent produce used in the kitchen.
Early mornings give the opportunity for both residents and locals to relax with the day’s papers, a full English breakfast and a freshly brewed coffee, or just slice of the Chef’s cake selection and a take away latte. Lunch is served ‘til 3.00, and dinner continues from 6.00 until late, while all day dining on Saturday and Sunday makes for a great weekend in beautiful surroundings.
With ever changing restaurant quality dishes sitting happily cheek-to-cheek with classic comfort food such as cheese fondue, homemade chicken Kiev, and Bourbon BBQ ribs with beef dripping chips, there is something to tempt most! For the more daring, crispy pigs’ ears, and tempura monkfish cheeks offer something a little out of the ordinary. Not to be missed are Fish night Fridays, and Game night Thursdays (when in season), when the special boards come alive with the best of Kent’s freshest produce!
